For example, on the day of the RWC final, in these areas there was no electricity virtually all day, or yesterday, 30 October, without power again almost all day. A telephone call to Joburg central said that problems arose in some substations in the areas mentioned.

While Eskom might be bad, City Power is about 5 times worse when its comes to managing local grids. I can understand Eskom taking control over loadshedding for parts of City Power’s network. But the reverse would be a catastrophe.
