Britt Andrew Burns

Britt Andrew Burns is one of America's most promising young composers. He writes for a large variety of ensembles including orchestra, choir, wind ensemble, film and chamber works. His musical style is infectiously melodic with energetic, forceful rhythms and unique harmonic style.
Burns earned bachelors and masters degrees in Music Composition from the University of Kansas, where he was a student of Bryan Kip Haaheim, Charles Hoag, James Barnes and Forrest Pierce. He has also studied at the University of Hull in Great Britain under Alistair Borthwick.
Burns keeps a busy composing schedule with frequent new commissions. Burns works have been performed by some of the finest choirs, orchestras, chamber ensembles, wind ensembles and soloists in North America and abroad.
